Comtax Credit Union Ltd was formed in 1948 and Security Credit Union Ltd was formed in 1962. Comtax and Security merged in 2008 to form a larger and stronger Credit Union for the benefit of members called Allied Members Credit Union Ltd (AMCU). Comtax was formed to provide financial services to staff of the Australian Tax Office and Security was formed to provide these same services to staff of Social Security. This has not changed in the decades since each credit union was established.

Because our links to our past and our identities are important to us, and we believe to our members, Comtax and Security continue to operate as divisions of AMCU. We have done this because we think it is also important to be able to identify with the communities in which we operate while gaining the benefits and efficiencies that a larger organisation provides.

Our intention is to continue to maintain the Security and Comtax names and brands now and in the future.
