Sydney Mutual Bank. New brand, same great service!

As you are probably aware, at SCU’s Special General Meeting on 24th July 2019, Members voted overwhelmingly in favour of changing the company name to Australian Mutual Bank Ltd and accepting the transfer of business of Endeavour Mutual Bank. Australian Mutual Bank Ltd will operate two divisions, Sydney Mutual Bank and Endeavour Mutual Bank.

As part of the rebranding, from 1st October 2019, the Comtax and Security divisions will be brought under one roof at Sydney Mutual Bank.

We believe that this will offer you a more uniform and consistent brand experience and enhanced membership benefits as part of a large and robust organisation with 75,000 members and total assets of more than $1.5 billion.

We are committed to ensuring the transition to Sydney Mutual Bank is as seamless as possible and to keep providing the level of personal service you are used to.

Sydney Mutual Bank will continue to maintain close relationships with both the Australian Tax Office and Department of Human Services. Our Business Development Team will continue their regular visits to the ATO and DHS offices and support various events held by ATO and DHS staff.

The merger of Sydney Mutual Bank and Endeavour Mutual Bank grants us the capacity to make a significant difference to existing and new members. The merged organisation will provide all our members with access to more banking services, more staff, and greater product and service diversification.

Our branch network expands to 25, with 9 new branches available from 14th October in Gosford, Revesby, Hamilton, Gymea, Homebush, Chullora, North Ryde, Merrylands and Central (Railway Square).

We apologise for any inconvenience caused during the conversion process but assure you that we are taking all required steps to ensure that the impact on you is minimal.

A fresh look & feel

SCU’s updated brand mark and visual identity as Sydney Mutual Bank will be revealed on 1st October. The rebranding will be the only difference you will notice. SCU have been helping Australians and Sydneysiders with their finances since 1963 and will continue to provide the same great service just with a new, warm and welcoming brand presence.

A new tag line

Every person with an account at Sydney Mutual Bank is automatically a part owner. One of the family so to speak. Our tag line ‘ACT LIKE YOU OWN THE PLACE. YOU DO.’ sums that up in a way that is friendly, inclusive and, we hope, memorable. It has a similar warmth to the way you would welcome a visitor to your house or office by inviting them to ‘make yourself at home’. It says: “We’re glad you’ve joined us. Be proud to bank here, and look after the place as if it were your own. Because it is.”

What will change in October

All the things you love about Comtax and Security as divisions of SCU - the generous rates and low fees, the high level of service on behalf of our Business Development Team and the personal touch when you visit any of the SCU branches, will remain unchanged.

  Website and Internet Banking

Both Comtax and Security websites will redirect automatically to www.sydneymutual.bank from 1st October. If you are an Internet Banking user, you will be able to log into the Sydney Mutual Bank Internet Banking facility using your Comtax / Security credentials. You will also be required to enter your date of birth, in the format DD MM YYYY.

  Mobile apps

The Comtax and Security mobile apps will be decommissioned in October and you will be able to download and install the Sydney Mutual Bank mobile app from Apple and Google App Stores. You will be required to register the mobile app using your member number, Internet Banking password and mobile phone number.

The mobile app features will remain unchanged, only the look and feel of the apps will change.

  Statements

The statements you will receive after 1st October will have the fresh Sydney Mutual Bank branding.

  An enhanced branch network

From 14th October you will have access to an enhanced network of 25 Sydney Mutual Bank and Endeavour Mutual Bank branches. You will notice that all Endeavour Mutual Bank branches will display a ‘Sydney Mutual Bank members welcome’ sign.

FAQs

Will my member number stay the same?

Member numbers won't change.

Will my Visa cards still work after the name change?

Your Visa cards will still work. Upon renewal, you will be issued with Sydney Mutual Bank Visa cards.

Is the BSB number changing?

The Sydney Mutual Bank BSB number will be 611 001, however the SCU BSB 802 084 will remain in use.

Is the phone number changing?

The Member Contact Centre phone number will remain 13 61 91.
